Comprehensive Eye Examinations
The doctors at Elmsdale Vision Centre pride themselves on providing the utmost care in comprehensive eye examinations. During
your eye examination the doctor will measure your visual acuity and intraocular pressure, assess eye muscle balance, eye coordination,
depth perception, and perform a refractive assessment where your need for glasses, or a change in your existing glasses, will
be determined. Most importantly the doctors will use state-of-the-art slit lamp biomicroscopes and ophthalmoscopes to examine
your eye health, including testing for cataracts and glaucoma. We also assess and diagnose other eye health conditions such
as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, and the ocular signs of high blood pressure
and elevated cholesterol.
The Canadian Association of Optometrist recommends eye examinations every two years for adults aged 18 to 64, regardless of
weather or not vision problems are experienced, or more often to monitor special eye conditions. After age 65, eye examinations
are recommended yearly. A thirty-minute exam every two years is a small, but wise investment for continued healthy eyes and
good vision.
