| The humble beginnings of Elmsdale Vision Centre ("the yellow house") |
The humble beginnings of Elmsdale Vision Centre can be traced back to March 1984 when Dr's Lillian Dube
and Judy Martin opened the doors of their part-time Optometry practice in Enfield. A year after opening, Dr. Dube bought out
Dr. Martin and continued working on as a solo practitioner in a small office above Sergeant Renfrew's Restaurant in Enfield.
The practice moved to a larger location in 1989, and again in 1999 when Dr. Dube set up her office in a residential dwelling
on the property at 308 Highway # 214 in Elmsdale. ("the yellow house").
In the Fall of 1999, Dr. Andrea Hawkins joined Dr. Dube at the new Elmsdale Vision location
("the yellow house"). As the practice continued to grow Dr. Hawkins' husband Dr. Mark Chute, joined Elmsdale
Vision Centre on a part time basis in 2001. By the end of 2003, Dr. Hawkins and Dr. Chute had purchased the practice from
Dr. Dube and were both devoting their full-time energies in Elmsdale Vision Centre.
The Fall of 2004 was a
time of transition for the practice. In early September, Dr. Andrew Webber left a large practice in Dartmouth and joined Elmsdale
Vision Centre on a full-time basis. Later that Fall Dr. Dube retired from Optometric practice to spend more time with her
family. Discussions were also started on relocation as space was quickly becoming a constraint to future growth.
The continued growth
of the practice, through the provision of high quality eye care and patient service, allowed Elmsdale Vision Centre to retain
the services of Dr. Angela Saywood as an associate in September 2007. Dr. Saywood has quickly developed a loyal patient following
and become an integral part of the team.
